What should I bring?
We provide the boat, paddles, safety vests (PFDs) and whistles. We recommend you bring sun block, water, snacks, waterproof case (for your camera, phone, etc.), appropriate clothing and water shoes. Don’t forget to bring your ID!
Do I need to sign a waiver?
Yes, ALL participants over the age of 18 must sign a liability release form. Participants under 18 must have a parent or legal guardian sign a liability release form on their behalf.
Do I need to show and ID?
Yes, A valid ID or Drivers License is required for ALL participants over the age of 18 to rent any watercraft or equipment. SORRY, NO EXCEPTIONS.
Do you have any age restrictions?
No, as long as the person can wear a safety vest. However, as mentioned above, those under the age of 18 will require a parent or guardian to sign a liability release form. It will be up to the parent or guardian to decide if the child is capable of paddling on his or her own or better suited for a tandem (2 person) boat with an older child or adult.
Do I need to wear a safety vest (PFD)?
Yes, all renters must wear a life vest (PFD) at all times.
I don’t know how to use a kayak, will you teach me?
Yes, our facility attendee will show you the basics to get you started. Our attendees will also help push you off into the water if you require the assistance. However, we do recommend that all participants obtain proper instruction prior to renting kayaks, canoes or any other watercraft.
Can I jump off the boat to go swimming?
Swimming is not allowed off the watercraft. If you wish to swim, you’ll need to bring your watercraft and equipment back to shore and swim in a properly designated area.
Is alcohol allowed on the boats?
No. Use of alcohol or other substances, which may impair judgment, is strictly prohibited. We reserve the right to deny service to anyone that appears to be under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
Can we reserve boats ahead of time?
At this time, we only rent boats on a first-come first-serve basis. However, we do offer group reservations of 5 or more boats. Email us for more information.
Do you offer lessons?
Yes, we do offer a basic introduction to kayaking lesson. Click here for information.
Do you sell kayaks?
No but we recommend you visit www.austinkayak.com for all your kayak and kayak accessory needs.
